Minor MINOR IN CREATIVE WRITING
Faculty of Arts and Humanities - English and Writing Studies



Open to all students in the University, the Minor in Creative Writing offers undergraduate students the opportunity to develop their ability to write fiction, poetry, screenplays, and other forms of imaginative literature. Any undergraduate student may apply for admission, subject to prerequisites and general University entrance requirements.

Admission Requirements



Completion of first-year requirements, including 0.5 course from Writing 1000F/G, Writing 1030F/G, or Writing 1031F/G with a grade of at least 70%; or 0.5 course from one of Writing 2101F/G, Writing 2111F/G, or Writing 2131F/G with a grade of at least 65%; or special permission of the Department.

0.5 course on the Writing Profession: Writing 2520A/B.
1.0 course in Writing Genres from: Writing 2204F/G, Writing 2214F/G, Writing 2218F/G, Writing 2220F/G.
2.0 courses from: Writing 2203F/G, Writing 2213F/G, Writing 2219F/G, Writing 2222F/G, Writing 2223F/G, Writing 2224F/G, Writing 2225F/G, Writing 2226F/G, Writing 3225F/G, Writing 3228F/G, Writing 3300F/G, Writing 3401F/G, Writing 3402F/G, Writing 3600F/G, Writing 3610F/G, Writing 3620F/G, Writing 3640F/G (or the former Writing 2227F/G), Writing courses numbered 4000-4999.

Note: Other courses (including in other programs) may be substituted with permission of the Undergraduate Program Director (Writing).

Note: the Minor in Creative Writing may be combined with the Certificate in Professional Communication. The Minor in Creative Writing may not be combined with the Certificate in Writing.
