Award Description

Richard Markell Scholarship

Awarded to a student registered in a History program who has achieved a minimum 80% academic average and demonstrated financial need. The Office of the Registrar-Student Financial Services will complete an assessment of financial need and the Faculty of Social Science will select the recipients. Established by Marguerite Ruth Dow, Professor Emerita, The University of Western Ontario, in memory of her loyalist ancestor, Richard Markell (c. 1746-1804), the great grandfather of her paternal grandmother, Alice Markell Dow.

This bursary will receive matched funding from the Ontario Government through the Student Opportunity Trust Fund.
