Social Science155a/b An Introduction to Computer Modelling and Theory in Social Science

An introduction to the use of the computer for modelling behavioral and social systems. Relationship of modelling to theoretical and empirical research and statistical methods. Examples of computer modelling in social sciences, presented by faculty from various departments. Introduction to computer modelling software. Student projects will be featured.

Antirequisite: Mathematics 310a, Computer Science 161a/b
Prerequisites: OAC mathematics and one Social Science course.
2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours.
Additional course-work in mathematics or computer science is highly desirable but not required.
Note: This course does not fulfill the science requirement for the BA. A limited number of exceptions can be made for Faculty of Science students with a special interest in social science applications.
