Course Description

English 020E General Literature and Composition

An introduction to selected major works of literature in English, by such authors as Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Blake, Joyce, and Atwood indicating by lecture and discussion the historical range and variety of that literature (poetry, drama, fiction). Emphasis will be on the development of basic skills in reading and writing.

Antirequisite: English 022E.
Prerequisite: OAC1 English or permission of the Department. For part- time students who have been admitted without the OSSD or Grade 13, this permission will be granted as a matter of course.
2 lecture hours, 1 seminar/tutorial hour.
