Course Description

Linear Algebra 040a/b Linear Algebra I

Properties and applications of vectors; complex numbers; matrix algebra; solving systems of linear equations; determinants; vector spaces; orthogonality; eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

Antirequisites: Applied Mathematics 025a/b, 213b, the former Applied Mathematics 214a/b, Mathematics 030, 031, 203b, 283b, the former Applied Mathematics 212a, or the former Mathematics 202a.
Prerequisites: OAC Algebra and Geometry or Mathematics 017a/b.
3 lecture hours, 2 tutorial hours every other week, half course.
