Psychology 343G Mental Retardation: Research and Theory

A detailed examination of the definition, diagnosis,classification and an etiology of mental retardation. The many subtypes of mental retardation will be examined from biomedical, genetic and socio- cultural viewpoints. At the level of behavioral analysis, emphasis will be placed upon recent psychological research and theory along with their implications for remedial education and treatment.

Prerequisites: Psychology 241 or 240a/b or permission of Department. Psychology 240a/b or 241 may be taken concurrently.
4 hours, half course.
