Course Description

Religious Studies 125F/G Religion, Morality, and Society at the Coming of Christianity

The social, religious, and ethical crosscurrents of the Mediterranean world from the third century B.C.E. to the second century C.E. will be studies as the context for the New Testament. The course will focus on selected primary sources in English translation and will give equal attention to Judaism and to the Hellenistic-Roman milieu.
