Course Description

Social Work 468a/b Violence in Families

Integration of theory with social work practice in understanding the complex dynamics of family violence and responding to this serious social problem. This course examines various forms of violence in families across the lifespan (e.g., spousal, child, elder abuse); issues of culture, diversity, and marginalization; and professional interventions for effective practice.

Antirequisite: Social Work 465a/b offered in 1999-2000 and Social Work 465a/b offered in 2000-2001.
Prerequisites: Social Work 316a/b, 317a/b, and 318a/b.
3 lecture hours, half course.
