Chemistry 363b Chemistry of Biological and Bioactive Organic Compounds

An introduction to the chemistry of naturally occurring organic compounds and medicinally useful organic compounds. Compounds derived from acetic acid in living systems, including fatty acids, terpenes, steroids, phenolics, and pheromones. Medicinal drugs. Complementary to Chemistry 463a/b, which covers biological macromolecules.

Prerequisite: Chemistry 353a.
2 lecture hours, 1 tutorial hour, half course.
