Course Description

Computer Science 031a/b Introduction to Computing and Communications Software.

An introduction to computer-based problem solving for personal and professional computing environments. The basics of computer organization, electronic communications, networks, security, information storage and retrieval, systems analysis and design. Practical experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database packages, and with the Internet.

Antirequisites: Computer Science 032a/b, and all Computer Science courses numbered 200 or higher.
3 lecture hours, half course.
