Course Description

ECE 495a/b Telecommunications Engineering

An overview of telecommunications topics including transmission, signalling and switching. Emerging technologies (i.e., ISDN, ATM and PCS) and roles of Canadian telecom corporations, government policies and regulatory issues are also examined. The lecturers will include professionals from the telecommunications industry and government.

Antirequisite: The former ES 495a/b
Prerequisite: Completion of third year of the Electrical or Computer Engineering Program or permission of the Department.
3 lecture hours, half course.
