COURSE CREDIT

Unless otherwise stated "course", "option", or "full-course equivalent" means one full course or two half-courses.

Credit is normally retained for all courses completed satisfactorily, without reference to the year of completion.

When a course previously completed successfully is repeated, both marks/grades will appear on the official transcript, and each registration will be counted as a course attempt in determining eligibility for further registration. The last mark/grade, however, will be used for all other academic purposes. This regulation also applies to courses that are antirequisite to each other.

Prior to granting permission for progression in a subject/program, a Department/Faculty may require a student to repeat a prerequisite or required course because its content has changed significantly since it was completed successfully. In this case, double credit will not be granted but no course attempt will be charged for the first registration in determining eligibility for further registration.

Unless otherwise specified, two half-courses equal one full course in undergraduate programs, whether or not they have been taken in the same subject.

In programs that include optional courses, one option is defined as one full course or two half-courses.

Students may substitute for a prescribed course only with the consent of the Department of their honors program or area of concentration and with the written approval of the Dean of their Faculty of registration. All substitutions must conform to the basic requirements set by the Senate.

Term work in a course will not be credited to a student beyond the academic session in which the course is taken.
