THE HBA PROGRAM

The Third Year

The third year of the undergraduate program in Business Administration consists of an integrated set of 10 courses (6 full-courses and 4 half-courses) equivalents designed to give a basic understanding of the functions and the interrelationships of the major areas of management, as well as to develop problem-solving and action-planning skills.

All students will take: Business Administration 300, 301, 302y, 303, 304, 305, 307, 308, 316y, 326y

No substitute for any of the above courses is permitted under any circumstances.

The initial weeks allow students to acclimatize themselves to the School and to the learning process. Groups of four or five students are assigned to study groups during the first two weeks of classes. This process serves to help students quickly meet new classmates and to share individual analysis of cases prepared for the next day. Students then form their own study groups to pursue the team approach. With organizational activity increasingly taking place in groups, this experience is critical for every effective manager.

The Fourth Year

The fourth year allows students to design a personal program of study best suited to their individual needs. A few students concentrate mainly in one functional area; most prefer to select courses from several areas. In the fourth year students are required to complete the five full-course equivalents. One full-course equivalent chosen from the faculties of Arts, Science, Social Science, or Law may be substituted for a Business option with the permission of the Program Director.

Additional Course Offerings

The School offers three additional courses, Business 020, 257 and 299 (for Engineering Science students only), for students considering a business program or wishing to acquire basic training in management techniques.
