ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY (Admission Requirements)

All students applying for admission whose mother tongue (first language) is not English will be required to write the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Test of Written English (TWE).

The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) test is an acceptable alternative to TOEFL/TWE.

The International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) is an acceptable alternative to TOEFL/TWE.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit proof of English proficiency, as stated above, to the Admissions Office before an offer of admission can be made. Proficiency in English is required of all students (see also the policy on "English Language Proficiency for Assignment of Grades" (Pointer).)

An "Appeal for Waiver of Proof" form may be obtained from the Admissions Office upon application.
