Applied Mathematics 380 Mathematical Methods for Scientists III

A practical problem-solving approach, including symbolic methods using computer algebra software such as Maple; Laplace transforms, convolution, and applications to differential equations; Fourier series, orthogonal function expansions; partial differential equations, separation of variables, Fourier and Laplace transforms; discrete Fourier transforms, signal analysis.

Antirequisites: Applied Mathematics 277, 320b, or the former Applied Mathematics 300.
Prerequisite: Calculus 251a/b or 281a/b, and Differential Equations 215a
3 lecture hours.
