Course Description

Astronomy 222a/b Classical Astronomy

The sky, time, distances and velocities of stars, and elementary celestial mechanics applied to orbits of planets, binary stars, and space probes.

Prerequisite: One course from the following: Astronomy 020, Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027, Physics 020; or permission of the Department.
3 lecture hours, half course.
