Course Description

MME 445a/b Aerodynamics for Engineers

Potential flow theory; sources, sinks, vortices and aerofoil theory. Theory of flight; lift and drag force. Performance calculations. Compressible flow theory; normal and oblique shock waves, expansion waves, high speed air foils, analysis of jet engine intakes.

Antirequisite: the former ES 445a/b
Prerequisite: MME 303a/b or the former ES 303a/b, MME 258a/b or the former ES 258a/b or the former ES 308a/b;
3 lecture hours, 1 tutorial hour, half course.
