Course Description

MME 459a/b Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machining

This course is an introduction to common CNC machining operations. Topics include basic CNC part programming, modern machine tool controls and machining centres, tooling and work-holding devices, kinematics and dynamics of milling operations, part programming using CAD/CAM, and advanced CNC machining strategies.

Antirequisite: The former ES 459a/b.
Prerequisite: Completion of third year of Mechanical Engineering Program.
2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours, half course.
