Pharmacology and Toxicology463a Principles of Toxicology

The basic principles of how chemicals produce undesirable effects in biological systems. Included are aspects of absorption, distribution, biotransformation and excretion of toxic substances, their mechanisms of action and related practical concerns, such as risk evaluation and the treatment of poisoning.

Prerequisite: Pharmacology and Toxicology 356a/b or the former Biology 362, or registration in an Environmental Sciences Program, or permission of the Department.
2 lecture hours, half course.
