Course Description

Philosophy 332E Philosophy of Mind

A study of traditional and contemporary theories of mind and human action. Topics include the distinction between mental and physical phenomena, personal identity, intentional action, the analogy between minds and machines, the nature of explanation in psychology. Attention may be devoted to foundational issues in cognitive science and artificial intelligence.

Prerequisite: Philosophy 200F/G, or third or fourth year honors standing in Philosophy, Psychology or Computer Science.
