Course Description

CEE 436a/b Networking: Principles, Protocols and Architecture

The course is concerned with the architecture of networks and the basic principles that allow the transmission of data over the networks. Topics to be covered include: network architecture and protocols, OSI and TCP/IP models, physical layer, data link layer, local area networks, network layer and transport layer.

Antirequisites: Computer Science 357a/b
Prerequisites: C or C++ programming skills, completion of the third year of Electrical and Computer Engineering program or equivalent.
2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours, half course.
