Earth Sciences 410a/b Advanced Mineralogy

Systematic mineralogy, crystal structure and crystal chemistry of selected minerals. The Universal Stage and its application to the determination of the optical properties of birefringent minerals. Gemology and gemological techniques.

Prerequisites: Earth Sciences 310a/b, 330b; and Chemistry 224a or 226a/b or Earth Sciences 230b.
2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours, half course.
