Course Description

Anthropology 212F/G Cultures of the Pacific

The cultures of Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia with an emphasis on indigenous social structures. Other topics include ecology and economy, male-female relations, ritual and cosmology, hierarchical and egalitarian political systems, Pacific history, and contemporary political and economic issues.

Antirequisite: The former Anthropology 202E.
Prerequisite: One 020-099 level course from Administrative Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Psychology or Sociology.
3 hours, half course.
Usually only two of Anthropology 211F/G, 212F/G, 213F/G, 216F/G, 217F/G, 218F/G will be offered in any given year.
