For admission to this program, applicants must demonstrate a performance level of at least a Conservatory Grade X standard in the orchestral instrument, as well as evidence of exceptional performing ability.

Two full-courses or equivalent, at least one of which must be from a Faculty other than Music

Third Year

Ensemble: One, or more, of Music 328, 345, 351, 354, 356, 358, 368, 378, 379, 386
One half music history or theory course in 20th-century music, normally selected from 195a/b, 229, 265a/b, 266a/b, 267a/b, 306a/b, 308a/b, 310a/b, 322a/b, 330a/b, 335, 349a/b, 350a/b, 367a/b, 371a/b, 372a/b, 373a/b, 377a/b, 395, 406a/b, 408a/b, 410a/b, 467a/b, or other 20th-century courses which may be offered in a given year, with departmental permission.

Electives must include one full course or equivalent from Music 291a, 292b, 391a and 392b, and must also include Music 218y and 318y, or suitable alternatives approved by the chair of the Department of Music Performance Studies.

Electives in third or fourth year must include one full Music course from a department other than the Department of Music Performance Studies
