Course Description

Anthropology 337F/G Topics in Language and Society

An investigation of the interrelationship between language and social structure with particular attention to linguistic differentiation on this basis and the direction of language change. The speech of minority groups will be investigated.

Prerequisite: Anthropology 027a/b or Linguistics 288a/b or the former French 288a/b or the former Anthropology 021 or 245F/G; and 247a, or permission of the Department Chair.
3 hours, half course.
