Course Description

Health Sciences 413a/b Health Information Management (Clinical Information Systems)

Building on the concepts presented in the Health Sciences 208F/G and Health Sciences 315E, students will look at topics related to clinical information systems and the information needs of health care professionals. Looking at clinical information as it pertains to the individual, to the family or group, and to the population. Topics will include: the importance of information systems in managing clinical care; utilization management; health technology assessment; indicators of population health; the role of the health information specialist in a variety of health care settings.

Prerequisite: Health Sciences 315E or permission of Instructor.
2 lecture hours, half course
