Course Description

Biology 391b Regulation of Gene Expression in Microorganisms

A discussion of the genetic material and molecular mechanisms governing its expression in prokaryotes and eukaryotic microorganisms. The laboratory will introduce the student to the techniques used to analyze DNA and to study gene regulation in a microbial system.

Prerequisites: Biochemistry 280a or the former Biology 280a; Biology 281b, and 290a/b.
2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours, half course.
