Course Description

SE 250a/b Introduction to C and UNIX

Basic Von Neumann computer architecture, C programming and basic UNIX utilities. Regular expressions, shell programming and the effective use of those utilities. Basic Software Engineering Life Cycle and the relevant UNIX supporting tools. An examination of UNIX kernel syscalls.

Prerequisite: Computer Science 026a/b
2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours, half course
