English 491E Literary Criticism: History, Theory, and Practice

A survey of the history of critical theory, and important modern critical schools, and practical training in the uses of critical theory, with reference to historical background. Selected literary texts will be discussed in seminars devoted to practical application of critical theory.

Antirequisite: English 201F/G.
3 hours.
Mandatory for students in fourth year of Honors English Language and Literature who have not successfully completed English 201F/G.
Restricted to students in fourth year.
