Course Description

Earth Sciences 370a Metallogeny

A survey course introducing the broad field of ore deposit geology and the importance of mineral resources. Microscopic to global tectonic scales of metallogenic research will be considered in formulating geological models of ore environments. Laboratory work focuses on reflecting light (ore) microscopy in practical study of important ore suites.

Prerequisites: Earth Sciences 206b or the former 210, and Earth Sciences 260a/b; or permission of the Department.
2 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours, half course.
