Fourth Year
- All fourth year course selections must be approved by the co-ordinator of the Ecology and Evolution program. The fourth year program consists of 5.0 principal courses, at least 2.0 of which must be at the 400-level. These 5.0 courses must fulfill the requirements outlined in each of the three sections listed below.
- (Students who have completed 1.0 or more of these courses prior to entry into Fourth Year must take at least 4.0 courses from those listed below. In such cases, a maximum of 1.0 option course may be taken, but it must be at the 200-level or above.)
- 1. Evolutionary Biology.
- Biology 366b, and EITHER Biology 304a OR Biology 441a (formerly Zoology 441a).
- 2. The Diversity of Life.
- Biology 284a, and TWO HALF COURSES FROM: Biology 216b OR Biology 204a; Biology 240b OR Biology 328a; Biology 271a OR Biology 355b; Biology 318b OR Biology 402a (formerly Plant Sciences 402a).
- 3. Additional Areas of Focus. FIVE HALF COURSES FROM AT LEAST THREE OF THE FOLLOWING SIX AREAS OF FOCUS:
- i. Community & Ecosystem Ecology:
- Biology 327b (or the former Biology 213b), Biology 345a, Biology 452a (formerly Plant Sciences 452b).
- ii. Population & Physiological Ecology:
- Biology 321F (or the former Biology 203F), Biology 335b, Biology 403a (formerly Plant Sciences 403b).
- iii. Behavioural Ecology:
- Biology 336a, Biology 436G (formerly Zoology 436G).
- iv. Applied Ecology:
- Biology 217b, Biology 285b, Biology 346b, Environmental Science 494F/G.
- v. Quantitative & Theoretical Ecology:
- Biology 352b, Biology 434b (formerly Zoology 434a), Biology 444a (formerly Zoology 444a).
- vi. Research:
- Biology 320y, Biology 450a/b/451b (formerly Plant Sciences 450a/451b and Zoology 450a/451b), Biology 457y/458y (formerly Zoology 420y/421y), Biology 452a (formerly Plant Sciences 490a).
Note: Students planning to enter fourth year Honors Ecology and Evolution are required to choose their courses in consultation with the program coordinator.
