The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology offers programs leading to 4-year BMSc (Honors) degrees in Physiology, and Pharmacology and Toxicology. It participates in joint programs leading to 4-year BSc (Honors) degrees in Physiology and Psychology, and Toxicology with Environmental Science, and to a three-year BSc in Physiology and Psychology. The Department also participates in the 3-year BSc Biology program, the 4-year General BMSc Medical Sciences program, and the 4-year BMSc (Honors) Medical Sciences program. Admission Requirements

Completion of the BMSc requirements for years 1 and 2 (Faculty of Science) plus year 3 of the BMSc General program or the requirements for the 3 year BSc in Biology.

Prerequisites include:

Physics 020, 022, 024 or 025
Mathematics 030, or Calculus 050a/b plus one of the following: Calculus 051a/b or 081a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Mathematics 028a/b
Biochemistry 280a (formerly Biology 280a), Physiology 310, 314a (formerly Biology 310, 314a), Pharmacology and Toxicology 355a/b, 356a/b, or the former Biology 362
One of the following courses is highly recommended: Anatomy and Cell Biology 309 (formerly Biology 309), or Biology 322a plus 338a
Notes:
  1. Students are advised to take Chemistry 226a/b, Pathology 240a and a statistics course or half-course (Biology 244a, Psychology 281, or Statistical Sciences 222a/b) before entering fourth year.
  2. Enrolment in this program is limited.

Fourth Year

Principal Courses
Pharmacology and Toxicology 460a/b, 462a, 463a (formerly Pharmacology 460a/b, 462a, 463a)
Pharmacology and Toxicology 480 (formerly Pharmacology 480) (1.5 course equivalents)
At least one half-course from Pharmacology and Toxicology 432a/b, 442a/b, 443a/b (formerly Pharmacology 432a/b, 442b, 443a/b), or the former Pharmacology 464a/b, 466a/b, 467a/b.
To complete five principal courses, up to one and one-half senior courses in areas of biology or History of Science selected with the approval of the Department
Subsidiary Courses
If a course or half-course in statistics (Biology 244a, Psychology 281, Statistical Sciences 222a/b), or equivalent has not been completed previously, the student must take one of these as an additional half-course
