ENGINEERING-INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP (More than Co-Op)

The Engineering Industry Internship Program (IIP) provides undergraduate students with practical engineering experience in industry. This option to "earn while you learn" is available to full-time engineering students who have successfully completed their second last year of the Bachelor of Engineering Science program. Students spend 12 to16 months working in industry and this work term may count as one-year pre-graduation experience toward the four years experience required for licensing as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. Any engineering student who is completing the second last year of their program, has at least a 65% average, a clean academic record and completes an Industry Internship Training Session may enroll in the program. Students interested in IIP should apply on-line or at the Career Development Office not later than the end of November of their second last year (usually third year). Students accepting internship positions are registered in the course ES 406 "Engineering Industry Internship" and pay an administrative fee. Participation in this program will postpone graduation by one year.
Students who qualify to receive a continuing scholarship in the academic year in which they participate in the Engineering Industry Internship program are permitted to defer receipt of the scholarship for one year.
