TRANSFER STUDENTS
Students who have attended another university and have achieved an overall average of a minimum "B" (70%) in all previous university-level courses are eligible to apply for admission. If the grading system differs from that of this university, grades will be translated into their Western equivalents. Students currently attending an Ontario university to which they were admitted without the requirements necessary for admission to Western must have achieved university credit in five courses with a "B" (70%) average. Transfer credits will be evaluated for students who are admissible. Usually university-level courses with a mark of at least 60% will be eligible. A maximum of 10 courses may be transferred. Credit will not be given for courses that were taken at another university to fulfil university admission requirements. Also see the following section on Transfer of Course Credits. Admission is competitive and is not automatic. An academic record that meets the minimum admission requirements will be assessed in competition with those of other applicants. Enrolment in some programs is limited. Students currently registered in a preliminary year at an Ontario university may apply for admission to first year.
Transfer of Course Credits
Acceptance of transfer credits among Ontario universities shall be based on the recognition that, while learning experiences may differ in a variety of ways, their substance may be essentially equivalent in terms of their content and rigor. Insofar as possible, acceptance of transfer should allow for the maximum recognition of previous learning experience in university-level courses. Subject to degree, grade and program requirements, any course offered for credit by one university shall be accepted for credit by another Ontario university when there is an essential equivalency in course content. Details about transfer and the granting of transfer credit can be obtained from the Admissions Office.
