THREE-YEAR BA MATHEMATICS

Admission Requirements

A complete first year program that includes Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b, or 081a/b, in each case with a minimum mark of 60%. Linear Algebra 040a/b is strongly recommended. Computer Science 025a/b or 026a/b, and 027a/b are strongly recommended.

Second and Third Years

Linear Algebra 040a/b (if not taken in first year) or the former Mathematics 202a.
One of Mathematics 200a/b or the former Mathematics 203b or Mathematics 283b;
One of Calculus 250a/b or 280a/b;
One of Calculus 251a/b or 281a/b;
3.5 courses chosen from the following list *;
Mathematics courses numbered 200 or above
Differential Equations 215a
Applied Mathematics 261b
Mathematics 221F/G and 222a are strongly recommended.
* If the former Mathematics 202a was taken, only 3.0 courses are required from this list.
Note: Of the 5.0 senior Area of Concentration courses required in this program, at most one full course (or two half courses) may be replaced by courses numbered 200 or above from one or two of the Departments of Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistical and Actuarial Sciences. The program must include a full-course or equivalent in each of linear algebra and advanced calculus. Courses in linear algebra may include any of the following combinations: Linear Algebra 040a/b (or the former Mathematics 202a or Applied Mathematics 212a) plus Mathematics 200a/b or 283b or the former 203b, or Applied Mathematics 213b. Courses in advanced calculus may include any of the following combinations: Calculus 250a/b or 280a/b plus one of Calculus 251a/b or 281a/b.

The Area of Concentration will consist of the 5.0 senior-level Mathematics courses which are
specified in second and third years. If a course (or two half courses) from one or two of the
Departments of Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistical and Actuarial Sciences is substituted for one of these Mathematics courses, it will be part of the Area of Concentration.
