MINOR IN GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SCIENCE


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements, including Geography 020E or 021 with a mark of at least 60%

1.0 course from: Grade 12 Mathematics MCB4U (Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus) or MGA4U (Geometry and Discrete Math) or Mathematics 012a/b or 017a/b is also required.


Module

4.0 courses:

1.5 courses: Geography 201a/b, 242a/b, 280a/b
0.5 course: Geography 302a/b
2.0 courses from: Geography 115a/b, 301a/b, 307a/b, 309a/b, 313a/b, 342a/b, 370a/b, 371a/b, 379a/b, 380a/b, 383a/b, or relevant selected topics courses (see Department for approved list).

Within certain degrees, this module may be combined with the Geography modules listed below. (Please see the "Approved Module Combinations for Degrees" chart under "Degree Structure".)

BA Honors Specialization in Geography
Major in Geography
Minor in Physical Geography
Minor in Society, Space and Change
Minor in Watershed Processes and Management

Special Rules Regarding Overlapping Courses with other Geography Modules

  1. Geography 201a/b may be counted towards both the Minor in Geographic Information Science and another permitted Geography module.
  2. No other overlap is permitted.
  3. Additional 300-level techniques courses must be taken with this minor to replace overlap with Geography 242a/b and/or 280a/b.
