FOUR-YEAR BACHELOR OF ARTS IN MEDIA, INFORMATION AND TECHNOCULTURE

Admission Requirements

Students who have completed a first year program, may apply for admission to the second year of the four-year BA program in MIT provided they achieve a minimum overall weighted average of 70.0% in 5.0 full-course equivalents numbered 001-099 at the end of the academic year.

The selection process for admission to second year of the program is based on a student carrying a full course load, including the MIT first-year prerequisites. Eligibility is determined by a student's overall weighted average obtained at the end of the academic year. In cases where the number of applicants exceeds the number of spaces, admission will be competitive. Attainment of the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission.

Progression Requirements

To progress to the third and fourth years of the four-year BA in MIT, a student must achieve a minimum overall weighted average of 68.0% in each academic session, with no more than 1.0 unsatisfactory attempt in 5.0 full-course equivalents.

Four-Year Bachelor of Arts Equivalent Diploma in Media, Information & Technoculture

The Four-Year Equivalent Diploma is a means of granting recognition to those students who have successfully completed the requirements of the four-year General BA program after graduation from a three-year program. Students who have been awarded a three-year BA by Western or another accredited university may be eligible to pursue the equivalent diploma.

Graduates from other universities interested in the equivalent degree should first apply for admission under the Special Student category and should then contact the Faculty of Information and Media Studies once all supporting documentation has been received by the University. Graduates from Western may apply during the Intent to Register period in February. A student's program will require a minimum of 5.0 full-course equivalents in MIT and may require more than the equivalent of one academic year. The admission, progression and graduation requirements in the equivalent degree are the same as those for the equivalent four-year BA program in MIT.
