FOUR-YEAR BA HONORS MATHEMATICS WITH ECONOMICS MINOR


Admission Requirements

A complete first year program of which three courses must be designated as principal courses. These principal courses must include one course chosen from Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b (or Calculus 081a/b with a mark of at least 85%) , or Applied Mathematics 026, and must also include Economics 020 or 021.

Computer Science 025a/b or 026a/b, and 027a/b are strongly recommended. Linear Algebra 040a/b is strongly recommended.


Second, Third and Fourth Years

The following must be completed by the end of fourth year:

Linear Algebra 040a/b or the former Mathematics 202a, plus Mathematics 200a/b or the former Mathematics 203b;
Calculus 250a/b plus 251a/b;
Mathematics 208a/b, 207a/b;
Mathematics 217a/b or the former Mathematics 306a/b;
one half-course in Mathematics numbered 200 or above;
Mathematics 302a, 304a/b;
Mathematics 305a/b or Differential Equations 215a;
Mathematics 307a/b, 308a/b;
Statistical Sciences 358b or a half course in Mathematics numbered 300 or above.

The following Economics courses must be taken in the sequence shown:

Second Year

Third Year

Fourth Year

0.5 course chosen from: Economics 320a/b, 382a/b, 388a/b plus 1.5 additional courses in Economics at the 300-or 400-level

Note: To satisfy prerequisite requirements, the above courses and half-courses must be taken in an appropriate order. Students should consult both departments before registering.


Subsidiary Courses

Sufficient courses or half-courses to bring the total number of courses taken in each year up to five courses.
