Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including History 027E, Political Science 020E, and one of English 020E, 022E or 024E, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

9.0 courses:

1.0 course: American Studies 200E
1.0 course: Political Science 244E
1.0 course: History 234E
1.0 course from: English 264E, 364E, Anthropology/First Nations Studies 211F/G, 216F/G, 230F/G, 231F/G
4.0 courses (with no more than 2.0 from any one department) from: History 334E, 411E, 444E, 455E, 461E, Political Science 211E, 317G, 326E, 401F/G, 444E, or an independent studies course with the approval of the Director.
1.0 course: American Studies 400E (first offered in 2006-07)
