MICROBIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology participates in the 3-year BSc Biology program, the 4-year General BMSc Medical Sciences program, the 4-year BMSc (Honors) Medical Sciences program (see BIOLOGY PROGRAMS and MEDICAL SCIENCES PROGRAMS).

FOUR-YEAR BMSc HONORS MICROBIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY
Prerequisites/Admission Requirements

Completion of the BMSc requirements for years 1 and 2 (Faculty of Science) plus year 3 of the BMSc General program, or the requirements for the 3 year BSc in Biochemistry and Chemistry, Chemistry, or Biology. The 3 year BSc in Biology must include a full course or equivalent in year 2 Organic Chemistry.

Notes:

  1. Biochemistry 280a (formerly Biology 280a), Biology 281b, Chemistry 213a/b and 223b (or Chemistry 273a and 283G, or the former 253), must be taken in second year.
  2. All students entering Year 3 of the BMSc program, as of September 2005, must also have successfully completed one of Physics 020, 024, or 028a/b and 029a/b, or the former Physics 022 or 025.

Fourth Year

    Students in the fourth year Honors program will be required to take 5.0 courses.


Principal Courses

Microbiology and Immunology 483E or the former 484. (1.5 courses)
Microbiology and Immunology 461b, 465a, 467b, 473a and one other 0.5 course at the 400 level from Biology or the Basic Medical Science Departments.


Subsidiary Courses

One course or two half-courses at the 200-level or above, selected with the approval of the Department.
