MINOR IN GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SCIENCE

Admission to this module is discontinued for new students, effective January 1, 2008, and the module will be withdrawn, effective July 1, 2012.

Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 course from Geography 021, 022F/G, 023a/b, 024F/G, the former 020E with a mark of at least 60% in each of the Geography courses.


Module

4.0 courses:

1.5 courses: Geography 201a/b, 242a/b, 280a/b
0.5 course: Geography 302a/b
2.0 courses from: Geography 115a/b, 209a/b, 301a/b, the former Geography 307a/b, 309a/b, 313a/b, 342a/b, 370a/b, 371a/b, 379a/b, 380a/b, 383a/b, or relevant selected topics courses (see Department for approved list).

Within certain degrees, this module may be combined with the Geography modules listed below. (Please see the "Approved Module Combinations for Degrees" chart under "Degree Structure".)

BA Honors Specialization in Geography
Major in Geography
Minor in Physical Geography
Minor in Society, Space and Change
Minor in Watershed Processes and Management

Special Rules Regarding Overlapping Courses with other Geography Modules

  1. Geography 201a/b may be counted towards both the Minor in Geographic Information Science and another permitted Geography module.
  2. No other overlap is permitted.
  3. Additional 300-level techniques courses must be taken with this minor to replace overlap with Geography 242a/b and/or 280a/b.
