FOUR-YEAR GENERAL BA IN FILM STUDIES


Admission Requirements

Students must achieve at least 60% in Film Studies 020E and must consult with the Department prior to admission.


Program

7.5 senior Film Studies courses including:

Film Studies 200F/G, 251E, 270F/G, and 158F/G or 258F/G or any other senior Film Studies course deemed to be in the area of Canadian Cinema.

At least 1.5 senior courses from:

3.5 other senior Film Studies courses. No more than 2.0 courses at the 100 level (including Film Studies 158F/G, if taken) may be counted for credit in the program. A 400-level seminar is optional. Courses not already taken to satisfy the requirements can be taken as optional courses. Students may substitute for 1.0 senior Film Studies course a relevant course from another department or faculty, with permission of the Department.

In second year, students are strongly advised to take Film Studies 200F/G and 251E, 371F/G and/or the former 372F/G should not be taken until third or fourth year. Senior seminar courses Film Studies 472F/G, 474F/G, 490F/G, and the undergraduate thesis option Film Studies 409E may not be taken until fourth year.

Note: Students registered in the program after September 2000 but prior to September 2002 may graduate under the regulations in force at the time of registration: Film Studies 271F/G can count as a requirement in place of Film Studies 200F/G.
