| CBE 317y Introduction to Plant Design and Safety |

Fundamentals in process design and process flow diagram development will be introduced. Equipment design, selection, and costing will be discussed. A literature search is carried out by students on a proposed plant design project. Selected topics on engineering economics, safety and HAZOP will be covered. Students are expected to hand in a written report and make an oral presentation on their selected industrial process project. |

| Prerequisites: CBE 203a/b, 216, or the former ES 203a/b, 216. |
| Corequisites: CBE 313a/b. |
| 1 lecture hour, 1 tutorial hour, half course. |
