| Anthropology 411F Language and Politics. |

Using techniques of discourse analysis, the course focuses on the performance of persons, communities and structures as they express their positions. In so doing, it re-examines traditional analytic concepts such as law, power and hegemonic decision-making on the one side, and agency, identity, community, and representation on the other. |

| Prerequisite: Fourth year Honours standing in Anthropology, or permission of the department. |
