THREE-YEAR BSc PHYSICS

Students who were registered in second or third year of this program prior to September 1998 may graduate under the requirements of the old program, with appropriate substitutions for courses no longer offered.

Admission Requirements

A first-year program with:

Physics 020, minimum mark 60%

Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027, each with a minimum mark of 60%.

One Arts or Social Science course

Two full-course options or equivalent

Second Year

Physics 200, 259E
Calculus 250a/b or 280a/b plus one of Calculus 251a/b or 281a/b, or the former Applied Mathematics 200, or 281a and 282b
Applied Mathematics 261b or the former Applied Mathematics 361b
Differential Equations 215a
Linear Algebra 040a/b or the former Applied Mathematics 212a
One-half course option

Third Year

Physics 266b
One full course or two half courses numbered 100 or higher from the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

The Area of Concentration will consist of the 5.5 senior-level Physics, Applied Mathematics, (and up to 1.0 Astronomy) courses which are specified for second and third year (6.0 if the former Applied Mathematics 212a was taken).
