Admission Requirements

A complete first year program including Statistical Sciences 023a/b^* and one full course or equivalent, chosen from: Calculus 050a/b and either 051a/b (minimum mark of 60%) or 081a/b (minimum mark of 70%), Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027 with a mark of at least 60%.

^*If Statistical Sciences 023a/b was not taken in first year, it must be taken in the first term of second year concurrently with Statistical Sciences 259a/b, or must have been taken concurrently with the former Statistical Sciences 255. It is strongly recommended that students take Statistical Sciences 024a/b.

Second Year

Statistical Sciences 259a/b and one of 258b or 260b, or the former Statistical Sciences 255

Statistical Sciences 257a

Calculus 280a/b and 281a/b, or equivalent, or the former Applied Mathematics 200, or the former Mathematics 204a and one of the former Mathematics 205b or 285b. (See Department for equivalents)

The former Applied Mathematics 214a/b** or, if Linear Algebra 040a/b was completed previously, one of Applied Mathematics 213b, 261b, Differential Equations 215a, Mathematics 203b, 283b, 225a, 227b, or 207b must be taken in its place.

Two course options^*

^*Must take Statistical Sciences 023a/b if not taken in first year and must achieve a mark of at least 60%.

^**the former Applied Mathematics 212a or the former Mathematics 202a can be substituted for the former Applied Mathematics 214a/b if Linear Algebra 040a/b has not been taken.

Third Year

Three courses in Statistical Sciences numbered 310 and above. Students can use up to one Actuarial Science course for this requirement (including Actuarial Science 153).

Two course options

The Area of Concentration will consist of the 6.0 senior-level courses which are specified in second and third year.
