AREA OF CONCENTRATION

Sociology 020 or 021E with a mark of 60% or better, Sociology 230 or Sociology 240E and 231 plus at least one of Sociology 232E, Sociology 233, Sociology 234E, Sociology 237 (or the former 236) or Sociology 239, plus two additional senior Sociology courses. Sociology 231 is required in second year. For courses listed a and b, consult the Sociology Department to determine in which term(s) these courses are offered. Three-year students will be admitted to all honors courses below the 400-level. It is expected that Sociology majors will take their principal courses at Western: 230 or 240E, 231, 232E, 233 or 234E, 237, 239.

It is strongly recommended that students complete at least a half-course in Mathematics before registering in Sociology 231. The mathematics can be one of the following or their equivalents: a secondary school mathematics credit (Calculus, or Algebra and Geometry, or Finite Mathematics); or, at university, Mathematics 012a/b or 017a/b or the former Applied Mathematics 022.
