PHILOSOPHY

Admission Requirements

First year with three principal courses. One of Philosophy 020E, 021 or 022E is very strongly recommended.

A minimum average of 70% in three principal courses with no mark less than 60% in these courses and no failures.

Program

After the first year a total of at least nine Honors Philosophy courses and six options is required. Additional Philosophy courses may be included among the options, but all Honors Philosophy courses taken will be regarded as principal courses.

Second Year

All of Philosophy 200F/G, 201F/G, 210F/G, 211F/G, and 222a/b* must be taken in second year. 225F/G and 226F/G are strongly recommended. Students contemplating graduate work in philosophy should take Philosophy 322a/b if possible.

* Students admitted to the third year of Honors Philosophy prior to the Fall/Winter 1996-97 academic session need not satisfy the Philosophy 222a/b course requirement, though they are strongly advised to do so.

Third and Fourth Years

Four Philosophy courses at the 300- or 400-level are required. At least one of Philosophy 332E, 352E, 354E or 362E is required in third year.
