| History 323E Modern Japan |

Traces Japan from a feudal society in the nineteenth century to a leading industrial nation today. Emphasis on the analysis of economic, social and political change which made this transformation possible. The impact of such changes on the Japanese people will also be analyzed. |
| Prerequisite: History 028E or one senior history course. |
