Composition and dynamics of the plasma membrane and membrane-bound compartments in cells. Synthesis and trafficking of proteins. Cytoskeleton and cell motility. Membrane receptors in signal and energy transduction, cell-cell adhesion and recognition. Excitable membranes. |
Prerequisites: A minimum grade of 60% in Biology 022 or 023; Chemistry 020 or 023. |
2 lecture hours, 1 lecture/tutorial hour, half course. |
Mandatory course in second or third year of BSc Biology program. |
Note: It is strongly recommended that Biochemistry 280a or the former Biology 280a be taken prior to this half course. |
